Next Steps for Candidates

Step 1: Prepare for the Election

Click on the Information for Candidates button to learn everything you need to know to get started and submit a letter of intent. Once you've decided to run, think about what your platform will be. Why will people want to vote for you? What issues do you care about? Be sure that you can talk about what makes you uniquely suited to serve on the board. Those running for an officer position should prepare a short, 3-minute speech.

Note that at-large members do not need to prepare speeches, but will participate in discussion roundtables.

Step 2: Attend the Election General Assembly

This year's elections will be held on April 2nd, at the Center for Education Services. Talk to your school's advisor about attending. Be prepared to deliver your speech and to interact with members of student councils across the county. Remember to have fun, and good luck!
